Parenting Tips: Encourage good behaviour
Some of the biggest keys to positive parenting are to always praise your children when they are being good and reward them with your attention and love. Rewarding them with sweets is not nearly as effective as a big smile and a hug!
A great way to track rewards is the Star Chart system, which lists the actions that your family considers to be positive and negative. Positive behavior, such as making beds or helping a younger sibling, is rewarded with a star, and negative behavior, such as bad language or sulking, earns a black mark. Saving a certain number of stars earns a reward, like a trip to the zoo.
